Sebei Rising Together: A Diplomatic Call for Unity, Representation, and Progress

The time has come for the Sebei community to speak with clarity, unity, and purpose. For years, Sebei has demonstrated strong political participation and loyalty, most notably through its overwhelming support for the NRM government in recent elections. That support reflects trust, commitment, and belief in the national leadership. It is now both reasonable and necessary for Sebei to actively and diplomatically engage the centre to ensure the region’s interests are better represented and addressed.

From Loyalty to Constructive Engagement

Democracy is a two-way contract. Citizens and communities support leadership with the expectation that their voices will be heard and their needs prioritized. Sebei has played its part. What is required now is organized, respectful, and strategic engagement to translate political goodwill into concrete outcomes.

Cabinet representation is one of the most effective avenues through which regions influence national policy and development priorities. Increased representation for Sebei would ensure that the region’s unique challenges and opportunities are consistently articulated at the highest level of government.

A Strong Case for Inclusive Cabinet Representation

Sebei is blessed with capable leaders who have served with dedication and command respect both locally and nationally. Among them, Hon. Martin Chemonges and Hon. Betty Kaali stand out as experienced, steady, and unifying figures. Their potential inclusion in the next cabinet would not only strengthen Sebei’s presence at the national table but also foster collaboration with newly elected leaders for the collective good of the region.

This is not about individual ambition, but about teamwork. By working together—experienced leaders alongside new ones—Sebei can build continuity, institutional memory, and coordinated leadership that accelerates development.

Choosing Progress Over Prolonged Disputes

As a region, Sebei must prioritize progress over prolonged political disputes. While election petitions are a legal right, development cannot be placed on hold indefinitely. Constructive dialogue, reconciliation, and regional cooperation are essential if Sebei is to move forward with strength and dignity.

When leaders choose unity over division, the entire community benefits. A united Sebei speaks louder, negotiates better, and delivers more.

Leveraging Regional and Cross-Border Goodwill

Sebei’s strength also lies in its wider identity within the Kalenjin community, which spans across Uganda and Kenya. These historical and cultural ties provide an opportunity for deeper regional cooperation. With President William Ruto leading Kenya, there is room for strengthened cross-border goodwill that can support economic collaboration, peace, and shared development initiatives.

Such relationships should be approached diplomatically and responsibly, with the goal of enhancing Sebei’s visibility, influence, and contribution within national and regional frameworks.

A United Voice, A Clear Message

Sebei’s message to the national leadership should be firm, respectful, and forward-looking: we supported the government, we remain committed to national stability, and we are ready to work constructively—but we also seek fair representation and tangible development outcomes.

This is not a demand rooted in confrontation, but a call grounded in partnership.

The Way Forward

Now is the moment for elders, political leaders, youth, women, and professionals to rally behind a shared vision. By speaking with one voice and acting with unity, Sebei can strengthen its bargaining power and secure a better future for the region.

Sebei’s path forward lies in active participation, diplomatic engagement, and collective resolve.

United in purpose. Strong in voice. Focused on progress.
